International Reds preparing for Carrington return

Friday 14 July 2023 12:45

Manchester United’s international players are putting in the work ahead of their return to Carrington on Saturday.

Those who represented their nations in June were given a later date to return to the club than those who didn’t, and have subsequently missed the start of United’s pre-season, including Wednesday’s schedule-opening 2-0 win over Leeds in Oslo.

But the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and co are set to report back to our training ground this weekend and have spent time in their breaks blowing off any cobwebs ahead of checking into Manchester.

We brought you up to speed with the latest our players had posted about their private workouts earlier this week, and several Reds have since shared further updates with supporters in anticipation of joining in with our pre-season.

Fernandes has been working hard with Declan Rice and Portugal team-mates, while also keeping an eye on Mason Mount...

Fernandes caught the eye of fans on Thursday when he posted pictures of a workout, which featured him training alongside his Portugal team-mates Joao Cancelo and Rafael Leao, plus West Ham midfielder Declan Rice.

Our no.8 is one of several Reds who could be involved in our next pre-season outing, against Lyon in Edinburgh on Wednesday – which you can watch live on MUTV – although Erik ten Hag suggested after the victory against Leeds that most of the returning players are unlikely to play a part in that one.

Last season’s club top scorer Marcus Rashford has also been building up to the 2023/24 campaign with some outdoor work, having posted he’s “back at it” earlier this week.

Marcus has shared further images of him being put through his paces since then, captioned: “Feeling good”.

Captain Harry Maguire had trained with former Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho this summer, and our skipper has since commented that his prep is done and he’s “ready for the new season”.

Casemiro uploaded a snap to his Instagram Story on Thursday in the gym with his wife, as he gets match ready ahead of his second season in England, while via the same platform, Alejandro Garnacho said he “can’t waaait” while sporting gym gear.

Reading between the lines, we’re sensing the youngster’s enthusiasm at getting back to Old Trafford and making an impact once more, off the back of a breakout term in M16.

Congratulations, Diogo!

Dalot and his fiancee, Claudia Pinto Lopes, announced her pregnancy, prompting responses from his team-mates.

It’s been a memorable off-season for Diogo Dalot, who recently announced that he and his fiancée are expecting their first child.

Our no.20 posted a workout video with some words suggesting he’s eagerly anticipating the new campaign. “Tic tac 23/24” was the caption, accompanied by a couple of emojis that resembled him counting down.

Fellow full-back Alex Telles has also shared how he's been preparing, ahead of his return to United from a season-long loan with Sevilla, in which he helped the Spanish club win the Europa League.

The Brazilian’s free-kick and penalty techniques looked on point, in a video shared via Instagram.

Be sure to keep across ManUtd.com and the United App this weekend for exclusive coverage as our recent international representatives return to Carrington.
