Casemiro added to Fantasy Premier League

Manchester United’s new signing Casemiro has become the latest Red to be added to Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

The Brazilian international completed his move from Real Madrid on Monday and was presented on the Old Trafford pitch before our victory over Liverpool.

Having done his first interview and other media duties, the midfielder has also been added to the popular fantasy football game ahead of his potential debut this weekend.

Casemiro comes in at exactly £5 million on the game and while his favoured role as a 'holding midfielder' is set to see him involved in defensive areas of the pitch, his budget price means he could still provide shrewd value for managers.

The 30-year-old could have an immediate involvement too, should he be selected for his Reds bow in our Saturday lunchtime trip to Southampton, and could go on to be a regular in the middle of the park for Erik ten Hag’s side.

While goal involvements aren’t primarily what Casemiro’s game is based on, the midfielder is still capable of finding the net or providing a killer pass, as his Real Madrid stats show.

Our new signing netted 24 goals and 19 assists across his 222 La Liga appearances for Los Blancos, while his best statistical campaign came in the 2020/21 season when he scored six times and set up four strikes for his team-mates.

The Brazil international helped Real keep 13 clean sheets last season – in matches in which he played 60 minutes or more – something he would also get an additional fantasy point for as a midfielder at United.

His arrival could have a positive impact on his team-mates from an FPL point of view too.

His defensive presence in front of the back four could help on the way to clean-sheet points for our defenders, including Diogo Dalot (£4.4m), Tyrell Malacia (£4.4m), Lisandro Martinez (£4.4m) and Raphael Varane (£4.8m) who started Monday’s win over Liverpool.

While he provides protection in midfield, Casemiro could also allow the freedom for the likes of Bruno Fernandes (£9.8m), Christian Eriksen (£6.4m), Scott McTominay (£4.9m) and Fred (£5.3m) to get into attacking positions higher up the pitch, giving them a bigger chance of scoring points for goals and assists.
