Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed some encouraging Manchester United news that will bolster the Reds after the game against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The boss has been able to name the same XI to face our rivals in the heavyweight bout in the Premier League today that he put out in the dramatic 3-2 European win against Atalanta in midweek.

Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Fred were all doubts after the comeback victory against the Italians in the Champions League but have recovered to play against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Solskjaer explains his team selection and gives updates on the fitness of Varane and Martial...

Defender Raphael Varane and striker Anthony Martial fell short of being ready but Solksjaer has positive news on the two Frenchmen ahead of next Saturday’s teatime clash at Tottenham.

“Raphael didn’t make it and Anthony didn’t make it, so those are the two we are missing,” Ole told club media.

“But, hopefully, they will be back for, maybe, next weekend.”

For todays game against the Anfield outfit, the boss wants United to get out of the traps quickly.

“There are loads of keys [to the outcome]," he admitted. "Top of the list is start on the front foot. Make sure that we stamp our authority on it and dominate the game from the start,” he told Sky Sports.

“Of course, we know if we give them time to build pressure, they do wear you down so we want to play as much as we can up in their half.

"Then again, we have to stop their counter attacks very quickly. There are loads of keys.

“The crowd will give us an extra 10 per cent of energy and then it is up to the players to give them energy.

“Start on the front foot, be active and be ready to win the ball and then, when we have got the ball, use it well. You have got to have rhythm, you have got to have quality on the ball, good decision-making because they are a good team.”
