One week until Tour 2022 begins

Friday 01 July 2022 10:55

In just seven days, our players and staff will be jetting off to continue pre-season preparations in Asia and Australia.

Friday 8 July is the official start date for Tour 2022, and the United squad will be keen to impress new boss Erik ten Hag, both in the warm-weather training and the matches lined up.

Some Reds returned to training this week, with the Dutchman – alongside his coaching staff – putting them through their paces.

Many of our senior players are still enjoying their breaks having been involved in last month's international action and are expected to join the group before Friday's departure from Manchester Airport.

THE FIXTURES

United begin Tour 2022 in style, with Liverpool our opponents at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on 12 July.

This fixture may be labelled as a friendly, but as history tells us, fixtures between United and Liverpool are anything but.

Following this clash, we travel to Australia, where the Reds will face Melbourne Victory on Friday 15 July at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground in the first of two matches to be played at the iconic arena.

On Tuesday 19 July, United are in action at the stadium again, this time against fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.

Following this clash, Ten Hag’s side remain 'Down Under' for one more match: a friendly against Aston Villa at Perth's Optus Stadium on Saturday 23 July.

After returning from Tour, our pre-season concludes back in Europe, with United playing out an eyewatering fixture against Spanish heavyweights Atletico Madrid in Oslo on Saturday 30 July, before hosting Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on the following day.

Both of those friendlies – and all of our Tour 2022 fixtures- will be shown live on MUTV, which is now available on ManUtd.com and the United App.

In addition to the matches, exclusive behind-the-scenes access will also shown across our channels, giving supporters an insight into what the preparatory period looks like for our players and staff.
