All you need to know about Senne Lammens

Senne Lammens joins Manchester United as one of European football’s most exciting young goalkeeping talents.

The 2002-born shot-stopper has arrived from Royal Antwerp, a club United were closely associated with in the early 2000s, but began his senior career with Club Brugge, after spells at KRC Bambrugge and Dender.

Lammens’ high potential was recognised at an early stage when he was included in a senior matchday squad for Club Brugge’s UEFA Champions League away fixture at Atletico Madrid. At that time, he was a regular for Brugge’s youth sides, and made global headlines at the other end of the pitch when he scored a late headed equaliser against Real Madrid in the UEFA Youth League.

Senne went onto play several times for Club Brugge’s first team, acting as understudy to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, from whom he learnt a great deal before departing for then-reigning Belgian champions Antwerp.

“I am extremely proud to be joining Manchester United," says the 23-year-old goalkeeper from Royal Antwerp.

Initially featuring as back-up once again, this time for Jean Butez, Lammens soon secured a starting berth, waiting patiently for his chance and then impressing immediately.

After nine league games in 2023/24, he made 44 appearances in the following season, and that was far from the most notable stat of the campaign. Named Antwerp’s Player of the Month on two occasions, Lammens ended up making more saves (173) than any other goalkeeper in Europe’s top-10 leagues last season, according to Opta.

Having been a regular at youth level for Belgium, Senne’s strong performances through the 2024/25 season earned him a first senior international call-up in March 2025, although he did not make his debut.

After beginning the season with Antwerp, Lammens signed for the Reds on 1 September 2025, transfer deadline day. He’ll now continue to develop his burgeoning talents at Carrington.

Director of football Jason Wilcox revealed United had to fend off significant interest from a number of other clubs in order to land the 23-year-old.
