Erik ten Hag has revealed that new United striker Rasmus Hojlund has taken part in his first full training session with the first team.

The Dutchman delivered the news ahead of Saturday's Premier League match against Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST).

Unfortunately, Hojlund is not available for this weekend's action, but Erik went on to present a positive update to the media, which will excite fans ahead of a busy few weeks for the Reds.

“Today, for the first time, he came into team training,” explained the boss, when asked how near Hojlund was to getting onto the pitch.

“Next week we expect him to do a full week with all the team trainings. So he's very near to making the squad.”
The Danish international is yet to feature since completing his summer move from Italian club Atalanta.

Hojlund was unveiled before the Old Trafford crowd before our 3-1 pre-season win over Lens on 5 August, but has been managed back towards full fitness since then, due to a reported back issue.

Marcus Rashford has been leading the line for the Reds in the opening two weeks of the season, with Hojlund's fellow centre-forward Anthony Martial also working towards his first start of 2023/24.

Line-ups for United v Forest will be released at 14:00 BST on Saturday.
