Scott McTominay will be among the Manchester United players looking forward to returning to Carrington this Saturday.

The Scotland international has been enjoying some time off after a marathon 2022/23 season ended with his eye-catching involvement in Scotland’s recent Euro 2024 qualifiers.

But it hasn’t all been about putting the feet up for our midfield man, who took part in the Scottish Open Pro-Am event on Wednesday 12 July.

A keen follower of the sport, United’s no.39 teamed up with fellow Tartan Army midfielder John McGinn for his round at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick.

Film star Dougray Scott also took part in the four-ball, with the amateurs helped along by professional Robert MacIntyre, who plays on the European Tour.

🏌️‍♂️ ‘We never usually walk!’ | In July, golf fan Scott McTominay lived his dream by playing the Scottish Open Pro Am...

“If we get a day off, or something like that, we usually have a game. It’s good fun, we enjoy it,” Scott explained. “We never walk though!”

McTominay also rated some of the other Reds who regularly play the sport:

“Harry Maguire’s good, Tom Heaton is good as well. There’s not actually that many golfers to be fair. Phil Jones, who’s left now, is a handy golfer as well.”

MacIntyre is competing in this weekend’s Scottish Open proper, as the likes of Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and world number one Scottie Scheffler battle it out over 72 holes on the east coast.

Scott, meanwhile, will be back to his day job as Erik ten Hag and his side prepare to face Lyon up the road in Edinburgh.

You can still buy tickets for our clash with Laurent Blanc’s side at BT Murrayfield, while MUTV is also showing the game live.

The squad then departs to the United States for Tour 2023, with fixtures against Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund still on the slate.
