While there was a wealth of star power evident on the pitch during our thrilling Europa League clash with Barcelona on Thursday, there was plenty of it in the stands too!

Sir Alex Ferguson - who needs no introduction, of course - was pictured with ex-Red Nani at the Nou Camp along with United's former chief executive David Gill, and the Portuguese winger posted the image on Twitter.

Of course, such a link-up garnered much traction among football fans, and Nani also posted pictures with other greats of the game, including Brazil legend Ronaldinho and ex-Barcelona hotshot Patrick Kluivert.

"Special night at the Camp Nou with my Man United family and friends," wrote the former United man, who now plays for Melbourne Victory in Australia.

The action on the pitch gave fans plenty to cheer about too, with United putting in a superb display away to La Liga's leaders to leave our Europa League play-off tie finely poised going into the second leg at Old Trafford next Thursday.

After a highly intense first half, the Reds went behind early in the second period, courtesy of a header from former Chelsea man Marcos Alonso.

Marcus Rashford levelled almost instantly, drilling a low effort beyond Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and the goals didn't stop there.

Seven minutes later, Rashford's drilled cross was turned into the hosts' net by defender Jules Kounde, edging Erik ten Hag's side ahead for the first time in the match.

Raphinha levelled later on, and the final whistle presented the perfect opportunity for fans and neutrals to regain their breath.

During his playing days, Nani was capable of producing magic on his day and he - along with Sir Alex - will no doubt have been engrossed by the pulsating encounter.

And the best part about it? We get to do it all over again next week!
