Manchester United Academy stalwart Dave Bushell has been presented with the Eamonn Dolan award by Sir Alex Ferguson.

The prize is handed out by the Premier League in recognition of outstanding contributions to youth coaching, and the event at Old Trafford allowed our Academy player liaison officer to receive the acclaim of his peers.

His friend Tony Whelan won the award in 2020 and the pair are long-serving, hugely respected members of the Carrington staff.

Dave Bushell's outstanding work in youth football is recognised by the Premier League.

Bushell's first day proper at the club was back in early January 1995 and he has provided so much dedication and support in his various roles, helping ensure the famed production line of talent at United keeps moving forwards.

When asked about the best part of his job by United Review, our official matchday programme, he said: "Dealing with youngsters, looking after them, and the pride you get from their development. It’s the people, being proud of people like Marcus [Rashford], but also all the others, like Jimmy Dunne or Joe Rothwell, or Gerard Pique at Barcelona!

"I remember with Gerard, the manager came out and said everything’s done, the only problem now is we need some good digs for him, so if we don’t sign him, it’s because of you, Dave!"

Head of Academy Nick Cox said recently: "Dave’s years of service for Manchester United have been phenomenal. Long-standing staff such as him are vital to the Academy, they are custodians of culture and ensure that we stay true to the values that have ensured that the Academy has continued to produce world-class players throughout its history."

Congratulations, Dave, on the much-deserved recognition!
