Solskjaer confirms De Gea is back in Manchester
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed United goalkeeper David De Gea is back in Manchester and quarantining at home, after attending the birth of his first child in Spain.
Our no.1 and his partner Edurne welcomed baby Yanay to the world on 4 March and thanked fans for their messages of support on social media, declaring a “new red devil comes to the family”.
As a result of returning to his native Spain, De Gea missed the 2-0 Premier League victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and 1-1 Europa League draw with AC Milan at Old Trafford.
Dean Henderson, celebrating his 24th birthday today, started both of those fixtures in David’s absence to take his tally of appearances for the season so far to 16.

In a press conference to preview this Sunday’s top-flight match against West Ham United, Solskjaer provided an update on De Gea’s whereabouts when quizzed about the matter by a reporter.
“David is back in Manchester,” revealed the manager in his media briefing.
“So he is quarantining, or self-isolating. He is touch and go for Sunday I think, as I am not sure if it was Monday or Tuesday when he arrived back in Manchester.”
Asked if De Gea is allowed to train with the squad and then isolate at home, Solskjaer suggested the goalkeeper must remain away from the Aon Training Complex for the time being.
“No, I think he has got to stay at home,” said Ole. “I think so, he is not training with us anyway. It is different if you travel away and compete, so no he has not been training since he came back.”
