HARRY MAGUIRE

Club captain Harry Maguire was unfortunate to see Sergio Reguilon's cross deflect off his boot to make it 2-2 in the second half, but the centre-back marshalled the in-form Harry Kane superbly throughout the evening.

Kane, who had scored five goals in his previous four Premier League matches, was limited to just one shot across the 90 minutes, other than his strike from the penalty spot, and this effort was off target.

And Maguire’s defensive influence didn’t stop there, with the 29-year-old making more interceptions and clearances than any other player on the pitch, recording more blocks than any other defender, and winning all three of his aerial duels.

In addition, Maguire was also effective in an attacking sense, when starting moves from the back.

The England international completed 10 out of 11 long passes, including one raking ball to Jadon Sancho in the ninth minute, with four of them being into the final third. Only Alex Telles and Sancho carried the ball further for the Reds against Spurs than Maguire.

FRED

The Brazilian was efficient in breaking up the play alongside Nemanja Matic, achieving the highest number of tackles and interceptions combined of any player.

Fred also provided the cute lay-off for Ronaldo’s long-range opener, taking his Premier League assist tally to four.

This perhaps helps to illustrate the Brazilian’s development into a key player for Ralf Rangnick.

JADON SANCHO

Sancho continued his recent resurgence, against Spurs, unselfishly assisting Ronaldo’s second goal of the game after latching on to Matic’s exquisite long ball.

In addition, the England international made 40 passes with an accuracy of 90 per cent, creating four chances in the process.

Sancho caused problems for the visiting defence with his trickery and work-rate, and Rangnick will be hoping the 21-year-old continues to build on his good form.
