The start dates for the 2021/22 Barclays FA Women’s Super League season have now been confirmed by the Football Association.

Manchester United Women’s third top-flight campaign will begin on the weekend of 3-5 September, a week after the commencement of the FA Women’s Championship.

The Reds will be looking to build on consecutive fourth-placed finishes in the top division, with the team unlucky to miss out on Champions League football last time out, as we finished just a point behind Arsenal in third.

We drew 1-1 with champions Chelsea in last season's opener, back in September 2020.

United will be under new management, with Casey Stoney departing as coach in May after three years at the helm.

Chelsea are the defending champions, having claimed a second successive title under Emma Hayes, while Manchester City finished runners-up for the fourth season in a row.

Bristol City were relegated and will be replaced by Leicester City, who are competing at this level for the first time in their history.

The fixtures for next season will be confirmed by the league in due course.

Before the domestic campaign gets under way, several Reds are in contention to feature for their national sides at the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Jackie Groenen was named in the Netherlands squad on Wednesday and Ella Toone is a reserve for Great Britain, with more countries yet to officially announce their selections.
