Following a rollercoaster season in the Women’s Super League, some of Manchester United Women's players are set to extend their campaign with international action.

Ella Toone, for example, has been named on Team GB’s standby list for the Olympic Games by interim manager Hege Riise.

Our no.7 scored nine times in 21 WSL appearances this season as the Reds finished fourth in the league and now the winger could be rewarded for her impressive club form with a trip to Tokyo this summer. Toone is one of four reserves, ready to be called upon if any of the 18 players in the main squad are unavailable.

Team GB will play against Canada, Chile and the hosts Japan in the group stage of the tournament which begins on 21 July.

Before we get to the Olympics, there will be other international fixtures taking place.

Hayley Ladd, who made five assists and scored once for United Women in the WSL this campaign, has been recalled to the Wales squad. The midfielder, who missed last month's defeat to Canada and draw with Denmark, has been selected in a 26-strong group which also features Reds youngsters Carrie Jones and Chloe Williams.

Gemma Grainger's side will face Scotland in a friendly in Llanelli on 15 June.

Meanwhile, our two United States stars - Christen Press and Tobin Heath - will both be involved in a training camp ahead of a busy schedule for their national team.

Head coach Vlatko Andonovski has included Press in his squad of 23 players for games against Portugal, Jamaica and Nigeria on 10, 13 and 16 June respectively, and those fixtures will go some way to deciding who is subsequently selected for the Olympics.

Heath is not among Andonovski's initial 23 but has joined the camp as her rehabilitation from a knee injury continues.
