Manchester United's final group game in the Papa John's Trophy will take place against Sunderland next week.

Neil Wood's Under-21s side bounced back from the 3-2 defeat to Lincoln City to win 3-0 at Bradford City and keep hopes of qualifying for the knock-out stages alive.

The tie will kick off at 19:00 BST on Wednesday 13 October and is being staged at the impressive Stadium of Light, which should provide valuable experience for our youngsters.

United shone at Premier League 2 level at the weekend with a 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Leigh Sports Village and, although a number of players have received international call-ups, spirits should be high ahead of the trip to Wearside.

The Black Cats led the League One table before slipping to a shock 4-0 loss at Portsmouth on Saturday, which now leaves them second on goal-difference behind Wigan Athletic.

Lee Johnson's men lifted the Papa John's Trophy last season after beating Tranmere Rovers in the final at Wembley.

Lincoln host the north-east outfit on Tuesday as Group F continues this time around, with the Red Imps currently topping the table with six points. United are second with three but this is Sunderland's opening match in this term's competition.

MUTV will be covering the clash on 13 October.
