With an incredible UEFA Women’s European Championship reaching its thrilling finale on Sunday, Manchester United Women’s new campaign now feels another step closer.

As pre-season continues for Marc Skinner’s Reds at Carrington, so does the countdown to our first WSL match of 2022/23, away to Spurs at their Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 10 September.

Our opening home game takes place the following weekend, when we'll face Reading at Leigh Sports Village. Kick-off on Saturday 17 September is scheduled for 12:00 BST and tickets for that match, and several other home games, are now available to purchase here.

The three Reds who made Euros history

Earps, Russo and Toone all contributed heavily to England’s first-ever European Championship win this summer.

That visit of the Royals is set to be an unmissable homecoming for our three Lionesses - Mary Earps, Alessia Russo and Ella Toone, who were crowned European champions with England on Sunday - plus their fellow Reds who also represented their respective nations at this summer’s tournament.

United had a total of eight current squad members involved in the historic competition during July. Ona Batlle’s Spain and Jackie Groenen’s Netherlands both reached the quarter-final stage, while Vilde Boe Risa and Maria Thorisdottir flew the flag of Norway in their Group A campaign.

Our most recent summer signing, Spanish forward Lucia Garcia, also featured for her national team, scoring in their Euro 2022 opener against Finland.
Along with Garcia, there is also the potential to see several new faces in our home opener, and in games throughout the season, at Leigh Sports Village.

Olympic Gold medallist and Canadian international Adriana Leon was the first summer addition to Skinner’s squad, while vastly experienced forward Rachel Williams and young talents Grace Clinton and Maya Le Tissier have since followed through the door.

It has therefore been a busy close season so far as we look to break into those Champions League spots for the first time, at the end of what is a highly anticipated 2022/23 campaign.
