Team news for Arsenal encounter

Manchester United's squad should be boosted ahead of the Premier League clash with Arsenal on Saturday.

A depleted Reds side was beaten by Liverpool in midweek, while the Gunners won 4-2 at Chelsea, which means the 12:30 BST kick-off really is a must-win game for Ralf Rangnick's side if we are to maintain hopes of finishing in the top four.

However, there are hopes that United will welcome some of the absentees back for the Emirates Stadium encounter, which does present an opportunity to bounce back from the Anfield disappointment.

Raphael Varane, Scott McTominay and Cristiano Ronaldo have all been back in training at Carrington this week.

However, Paul Pobga sustained a calf problem early into the loss on Merseyside, and will definitely miss out, with Luke Shaw and Edinson Cavani appearing to still be sidelined as well.

Fred has also been absent due to injury, leaving the Reds light in the midfield area.

"Scott McTominay will be back and fit to play," confirmed Rangnick in his pre-match press conference, after the Scotland international was an unused substitute against Liverpool.

"He has been training with us and will train today, so he will be available for the game tomorrow. The same is true with Rapha Varane and, obviously, Cristiano is available again."

Pogba looks unlikely to play again this term as an update was provided on the France international.

"With Paul, it seems, after the scan we did yesterday or the day before yesterday, it's very unlikely that he will play until the end of the season again. The doctor told me that it will take four weeks, minimum, for him to recover and, since the last game is at the end of May, I don't think it's very likely that he will be able to play again."

ARSENAL'S TEAM NEWS

The Gunners will be without full-back Kieran Tierney, who is out for the season, while Thomas Partey is also sidelined due to a thigh problem.

Mikel Arteta must be hoping his players came through the morale-boosting triumph at Chelsea in midweek with no major issues, with Eddie Nketiah making the most of a start with two goals at Stamford Bridge.

Defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is closing on a return to fitness.
