What's happening this week at United?

Monday 11 January 2021 08:00

As always, we're set for another busy week at Manchester United, with both the first team and Women’s side set for top-of-the-table-clashes.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are looking ahead to two important Premier League fixtures. First, we travel to Burnley for our postponed match at Turf Moor before United make the journey to face fierce rivals Liverpool at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Casey Stoney's Women also have a huge game this weekend as we face Chelsea away at Kingsmeadow.

Throw a Youth Cup fixture and some birthdays into the mix and you have got yourself another action-packed week at United…

MONDAY

We start the week off by wishing a happy birthday to one of the club’s most influential players of all time, Bryan Robson. Captain Marvel turns 64 and everyone at United hopes our former skipper has a wonderful day.

On Monday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will face the media for his first press conference of the week, as the boss will preview the Premier League match against Burnley.

This fixture was supposed to be the season-opener but due to our progress in the Europa League last campaign, it was moved to a later date. You can watch the press conference on MUTV, follow the action in our Official App and read Ole’s comments word for word here, on ManUtd.com.

TUESDAY

United head to Turf Moor looking to move top of the Premier League table, although we'll face a tough test against a Burnley side who have won three of the last four league games at home.

In this fixture last campaign, United ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. As always, you will be able to watch both pre-match and post-match coverage in our Match Day Live programme on MUTV. Kick-off in Burnley is at 20:15 GMT.

WEDNESDAY

We'll bring you all the post-match reaction to the clash in Lancashire, which will hopefully see United come away with another three points.

Meanwhile, our Under-18s are also in action with United set for a Youth Cup outing. Neil Ryan’s Reds will face local side Salford City for a 19:00 GMT kick-off in the prestigious underage competition. You can watch the match live on MUTV, with coverage starting at 18:45 GMT.

THURSDAY

Women’s defender Abbie McManus turns 28 on Thursday. The defender has played five WSL games for the Reds this season, and everyone at the club would like to wish Abbie the happiest of birthdays.

SUNDAY

It's perhaps the biggest game of the season, as Ole's men travel to Anfield for a 16:30 GMT kick-off. Liverpool have an excellent at home over the last few years, meaning a victory over our fierce rivals would be that much sweeter. As usual, you can follow all the coverage across our various platforms.

On a huge Sunday for the Reds, our Women's team face title rivals Chelsea at 14:30 GMT. United drew 1-1 with the Blues on the opening day of the WSL season, and a win against Emma Hayes's side would be a massive three points for United as we enter the second half of the season.
