What's happening at United this week?

Monday 28 February 2022 07:00

While excitement will build throughout this week at Manchester United as we head towards a crucial derby match against City at the Etihad Stadium, a midweek game against European heavyweights for our Under-19s also approaches.

Marc Skinner’s United Women will return to league action after their weekend FA Cup defeat to City, and the Under-18s will host their local counterparts from the same club in a Saturday morning fixture.

In addition, there are a whole host of anniversaries and birthdays that we will be marking across the week.

Here is how the next seven days look for United…

We’ll have continued reaction to Saturday’s draw for United at home to Watford, as well as the women’s FA Cup match against Manchester City, played on Sunday at Leigh Sports Village. You’ll be able to read how our loan players have been getting on across English and European football, and hear from several Under-19s players as they prepare for Tuesday's UEFA Youth League round-of-16 fixture.

Plus, the latest episode of the UTD Podcast will be available on Monday evening, starring Paul Parker is this week’s guest. The former defender won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup and a Charity Shield in his five-year spell at Old Trafford.

TUESDAY

United’s Under-19s side will host Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Youth League last-16 at Leigh Sports Village (20:00 GMT). Supporters are encouraged to attend, or can watch the match live on MUTV.

Neil Wood’s young Reds topped Group F before Christmas to secure immediate progression to this stage, while Dortmund had to beat Italian side Empoli after finishing second in their pool. The manager will be previewing the game in Academy Weekly, our regular round-up released every Tuesday morning.

WEDNESDAY

Attention will be turning towards the first team’s weekend fixture away at Manchester City. There have been some memorable matches at the Etihad in recent times, including several significant victories, and we’ll look back at some of the best moments.

At Carrington, the squad will continue to train under Ralf Rangnick, while City’s players will be recovering from their FA Cup fifth round match away at Peterborough United on Tuesday night.

In the evening, two of our loanees could be in action - Amad’s Rangers take on St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership, while Dylan Levitt’s Dundee United are away at Livingston.
