Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford and Fred warming up at OId Trafford

What's happening at United this week?

Monday 08 February 2021 08:00

February may be the shortest month of the year, but in the second week of the month there is no shortage of action at Manchester United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will be in action twice over the seven-day period as we first play West Ham United in the Emirates FA Cup before visiting West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League at the weekend.

We'll also see two Manchester derbies as both our Women and Under-18s go head-to-head with Manchester City. Our Under-23s are also in action, meaning there will be plenty of United matches to keep an eye on this week.

Here is a full rundown of how the week shapes up…

MONDAY

You can start your week off by seeing what Ole's had to say ahead of the Hammers. The boss recorded his pre-match press conference on Saturday and we'll bring you every word from 13:30 GMT.

We'll also deliver another episode of UTD Podcast. This edition features former United midfielder Russel Beardsmore who will be telling stories from his time at the club. The episode will be available on the streaming platform of your choice from 17:00 GMT.

Elsewhere, we would like to wish Alessia Russo a very happy birthday as the striker turns 22.

TUESDAY

The Reds are back in FA Cup action as West Ham come to the Theatre of Dreams in the fifth round of the competition. The match kicks off at 19:30 GMT and you can follow all the action in our Official App as well as watching pre-match and post-match shows on MUTV. Remember, there are no replays at this stage of the cup, meaning one side will guarantee their place in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.

WEDNESDAY

As always, our website and Official App will be the must-see platforms to view all the post-match reaction following the encounter with the Hammers. We'll bring you everything from highlights, articles, a quiz, Tunnel Insider and much more.

THURSDAY

Attention turns to the Reds' next match as we prepare for our trip to face West Bromwich Albion. The first team will be back on the training ground and preparing for what ought to be a physical battle against Sam Allardyce's side.

FRIDAY

Ole will address the media ahead of another interesting Premier League weekend. This time, it’s a Sunday clash against the Baggies at the Hawthorns that the Norwegian will preview. You can watch the press conference from 13:30 GMT on MUTV. Throughout the afternoon we will update you with the latest from what the boss ha to say.

The weekend begins with two huge games for United, Casey Stoney’s side face our cross-town rivals Manchester City in the Women’s Super League in a top-of-the-table encounter. The match kicks off at 19:00 GMT, the same time our Under-23s host Arsenal at Leigh Sports Village. You can watch the match live on MUTV and check out for yourself if we can continue our excellent goalscoring form at this level.

Friday also marks the Chinese New Year, with the start of the Year of the Ox

SATURDAY

The second Manchester derby of the week takes place as our Under-18s are set to battle it out for points with City. The match will be played at the Aon Training Complex and you can follow the action live on MUTV (11:00 GMT kick-off).

This day marks two years since legendary United coach Eric Harrison passed away, at the age of 81. Harrison famously helped to guide numerous youth players through our Academy ranks, but it perhaps most remembered for his work with the fabled 'Class of '92', which featured the likes of David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.

SUNDAY

We wrap up the week with a trip to The Hawthorns as we face West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League. The Reds won 1-0 in the reverse fixture thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty. The encounter in the Midlands kicks off at 14:00 GMT and three points could help cut the gap to leaders Manchester City at the top of the table.

It’s also Valentines Day on Sunday, as well as the 34th birthday of Edinson Cavani. Who knows, maybe the Uruguayan will be able mark the occasion by pulling off his goal celebration and fire an arrow of love...
