UTD Podcast: My memories of the Treble season

Clive Tyldesley reflects fondly on covering United’s iconic journey to winning the treble…

So what kind of thing can you expect from the ITV icon?

Well, we couldn't let Tydlesley pass by Old Trafford without covering his commentary on those final few minutes of the Treble season, where he immortalised Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's iconic goals with words that any Red worth their salt can recite at the drop of a hat...

"Can Manchester United score – they always score."
"Name on the trophy..."
"...and Solskjaer has won it..."

But that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Clive was, in fact, a keen home-and-away United fan prior to turning professional as a commentator in the 1970s, and discusses his memories of going to games with his dad to watch Best, Law and Charlton.

Once he gravitated to a job within the football industry, he encountered many of the game's greats at close quarters, leading to some memorable run-ins with Sir Alex!

What's it like to be on the end of that famous, bone-shaking hairdryer?

The episode is a wonderful listen and will bring back some great memories of some very happy times for all United fans.

A reminder that you can listen to the chat exclusively for the first 24 hours in our Official App before it is released via all other podcast providers at 17:00 GMT on Tuesday.
