Manchester United legend Wes Brown recently surprised 12-year-old Ben Dickinson and his family as they finished part one of their Treble Trek fundraising challenge.

Ben and his team will march 333 laps of each of the three stadiums where the club won the Treble 25 years ago, adding up to an incredible total of 999 laps. The Old Trafford leg of the fundraiser lasted 10 days and a trip to Wembley is planned in for later this year. The team will then finish off the trek at the Nou Camp next year to coincide with the 25th anniversary of that famous night in 1999.

Ben is no stranger to tough challenges, having completed a remarkable walk in 2022 from his hometown in Larne, Northern Ireland, to Old Trafford, raising money for FareShare, the UK’s largest charity fighting hunger and food waste. For this year’s Treble Trek, alongside continuing his support for FareShare, Ben will also be raising funds for Soccer Aid for UNICEF and the Manchester-based Foundation 92.
Wes surprised Ben and his family at Old Trafford most recently.
Wes, who was part of the club’s 1999 Treble-winning side, met with Ben and his family as they concluded their trip to Manchester, surprising the youngster inside Old Trafford with a shirt signed by the men’s first team.

He said: “It was a pleasure to meet Ben and his family and show our support as a club to their fundraising efforts. To take on such a challenge at his age is incredible, he really is an inspiration. I’m sure the money raised will also be a big help to these charities and he should be really proud of the difference he is making. I wish him and his team the best of luck for the rest of the trek.”
Speaking after completing the Old Trafford leg, Ben said: “It was fantastic starting my Treble Trek at the home of my team, Manchester United, and then to meet an actual Treble winner at the end of 333 laps was incredible. Wes was brilliant and I’d like to thank everyone who walked with me over the 10 days we were in Manchester.

“I’d also like to thank Manchester United for the signed shirt, which we’re going to use to raise even more money for the three charities I’m walking for. Now it’s time to enjoy the rest of my school holidays before getting ready for Wembley in October and the Nou Camp next May.”
