Manchester United Women defender Aoife Mannion says she’s “delighted” to sign a new contract with the football club.

The 27-year-old has extended her stay with the Reds after returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury last season.

Mannion played a key role during the latter stages of our 2022/23 campaign, as United Women played in our first ever Women's FA Cup final, as well as securing a Champions League berth for the first time in the team’s history.

"It was an easy choice for me and I'm really pleased to continue this journey," says the popular Reds defender.

After signing her new contract with Marc Skinner’s side, Aoife explained how excited she is to continue her journey with the Reds.

“I’m so delighted to be staying here at United,” she said.

“It was an easy choice for me, and I’m really pleased to continue this journey and see where we can go over the next few seasons.”

Aoife arrived at the club in the summer of 2021, and boasts 28 appearances to her name in a Red shirt. The centre-back proudly spoke about her stand-out moment at United so far.

“I think we’ve been spoilt this past season with so many highlights”, she said. Getting to the FA Cup final for the first time, qualifying in the top three of the league which puts us in a position to get into the Champions League group stage.

“To be sat here two years on and be talking about those things having achieved it with the team is really exciting and I hope this can be another springboard.

“I hope we’re sat here again one day talking about the next step, but for now it’s really exciting.”

Unsurprisingly, Aoife has shown her class via a heartfelt message that she posted on social media.

The Republic of Ireland international is passionate about playing a part in helping the club making more positive strides towards further success in the future.

“What an exciting few years we’ve had so far, the club is really quite a young club on the Women’s side, our trajectory just went like that.”

“It’s so special for me to see a slice of that over the last two years and hopefully for the foreseeable future.

She added: “I’m going to do everything possible to make sure things keep going like that and I hope you enjoy the ride.”
