Who won our Man-of-the-Match award?

Manchester United held off David Moyes's West Ham United on Sunday afternoon to complete an encouraging October across all competitions.

Erik ten Hag's side end the month having taken 11 points from our six Premier League encounters, while we've won all three of our Europa League games this month too.

The 1-0 win over the Hammers was secured following Marcus Rashford's header shortly before half-time - his 100th United goal.

But the Reds had to survive a late onslaught from the visitors, with our defenders standing tall to secure a fifth consecutive home clean sheet, which is our best run since June 2020.

The returning Harry Maguire was impressive at the back, with Lisandro Martinez tenacious in the tackle too.

Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot provided their usual forward thrust down the flanks and the latter also offered up a number of last-ditch interventions, especially at the far post, as David Moyes's side sought a way back into the game.

David De Gea was also brilliant in goal, pulling out fine stops from Michail Antonio and Declan Rice, while his save to deny Kurt Zouma another headed goal must surely go down as one of the finest of the season so far.

And those late interventions were enough for the Spaniard to win our Man-of-the-Match prize, voted for you by you in the United App after the final whistle.

De Gea - who was congratulated by fellow Reds great Peter Schmeichel on Twitter - secured well over half of the vote, as he won the award for the first time in 2022/23.

Marcus Rashford's 100th goal for United was enough earn the Reds three points against the Hammers.

De Gea spoke to various media outlets after the game, including NBC Sports, and he was delighted to help towards the win, after being a virtual bystander in Thursday's 3-0 win over Sheriff.

”I dont know [which was my best], probably the header from Zouma. It was almost a goal but all of them,” he said.

“I am happy and I have to make these saves to help the team, like I said before, it is a massive win.”
