January loan signing Wout joined his new team-mates at Carrington earlier today.

Wout was among the spectators at Old Trafford on Saturday, as Erik ten Hag's side triumphed 2-1 against Manchester City in a thrilling derby.

It remains to be seen whether the 30-year-old will make his Reds debut on Wednesday, when we travel to Crystal Palace in the Premier League, but the manager could give an update on that topic ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park.

Weghorst has never worn no.27 before in his career. The Dutch forward was no.28 in his first two seasons with Emmen before switching to no.9, which he was also allocated at VfL Wolfsburg, AZ Alkmaar and Burnley. Wout wore no.19 at Heracles Almelo, and no.10 at Besiktas.

WHO WORE 27 BEFORE WEGHORST?

Wout becomes only the second United striker to wear the no.27 for the Reds, after Federico Macheda's stint in the first team between 2009 and 2014. Brazilian defender Alex Telles occupied the number from his arrival in 2020 until the start of this season, when he joined Sevilla on loan.

Club legend Gary Neville was United's first-ever no.27 after squad numbers were introduced, wearing it between 1992 and 1994. The right-back then took on the traditional shirt for his position, no.2, in the following season, and he retained it for the rest of his decorated career.

Other players to have worn no.27 for the Reds include French defender Mikael Silvestre (1999/00 to 2007/08) and Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini (2015/16 to 2018/19). Terry Cooke is the only other United player to have had the number, wearing it for the 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons.
