Weghorst trains for the first time as a United player

Manchester United forward Wout Weghorst took part in his first training session as a Red earlier today.

The Dutch international joined the club on loan for the remainder of the season from Burnley, in a deal that was officially confirmed on Friday.

Weghorst had spent the first half of the campaign with Turkish giants Besiktas, scoring nine goals in 18 appearances, before getting the opportunity to join Erik ten Hag’s side.

The Netherlands striker has joined until the end of the 2022/23 season.

The 30-year-old was pictured in Sunday’s training session at Carrington, alongside his new team-mates, on the day after our 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the Premier League.

The striker was in attendance at Old Trafford to watch the Reds come from behind to take all three points in the derby.

It remains to be seen whether Weghorst will be in contention to make his United debut during our next outing: Wednesday evening’s trip to Crystal Palace.

Erik ten Hag is expected to provide an update on that prospect ahead of the 20:00 GMT kick-off at Selhurst Park.
