Creatively outstanding Stockport-born midfielder who progressed from FA Youth Cup winner to senior England international in less than two years.
Mainoo made his senior bow in January 2023 but would have to wait until later that year to really make his breakthrough, following a full league debut at Everton.
The precocious talent then became one of the first names on the team sheet, scoring memorable goals against Wolves, Liverpool and – in the Emirates FA Cup final at Wembley – Manchester City.
After helping England to the final of Euro 2024, Mainoo’s second season was a little less breakneck, but our no.37 showed his class when curling home a sumptuous late equaliser against Lyon, at a raucous Old Trafford.
