Will
Fish
On loan
Tall, strong centre-back who has captained United's youth teams at various levels.
A presence at the heart of the defence, he gained valuable experience as a schoolboy when being named as part of the UEFA Youth League squad. A trip to Austria in the summer of 2019 was the second time Will had travelled with the Academy squad to the country and he followed it up by becoming a regular in the Under-18s. Despite being eligible for another year in Neil Ryan's side, he was more often involved with the Under-23s, showing maturity and composure when appearing in Premier League 2. On 14 April 2021 he was added to the club's B list for the Europa League and he made his first-team debut as a last-minute substitute, in the 2-1 win at Wolves in May 2021. He finished up on 21 appearances for the Under-23s in 2020/21, more than anybody else in the squad. After a brief spell with Stockport County in 2021/22 and time with the first team on Tour 2022, Fish joined Scottish club Hibernian on loan for the 2022/23 campaign. Fish made 21 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals, and solidified his place in the starting XI during the second half of the season. He helped the Hibbees finish fifth in the league table, which earned them a spot in the UEFA Conference League. After being involved in three of United's pre-season games ahead of 2023/24, he returned to the Scottish capital to join up with Hibs for a second loan spell.
