"It’s an important victory," the Chelsea boss told Sky Sports. "When you play against Manchester United it’s always a massive game. We know very well this team is very strong. This type of win is important for our confidence. We showed great desire and passion to win this kind of game. “We can win or lose but our spirit must be this. Last season our spirit was in every game – we started this season with a lot of problems. We were up and down. This game showed if we want we can.
"It was an even match. Both teams could win. The first to score would be in more defensive control and to win the match. The first half was really even. In the second half in the only period where they were on top of the game, they scored. "It frustrates us to concede a goal in this situation. We lost ourselves after the goal emotionally. We found again the balance ad desire in the last 15 to 20 minutes. It was all us. We had big chances to equalise but we couldn't."
Phil Neville, speaking to BBC Sport, said: "Chelsea are deserved winners. They had the best players on the pitch in Hazard and Morata and their midfielders Bakayoko, Fabregas and Kante were effective."

United have suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Premier League champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge following a second-half goal from Alvaro Morata. The result is particularly frustrating after title rivals Manchester City secured a valuable 3-1 win over Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium earlier in the day. Jose Mourinho’s men defended well throughout the majority of the game, but were caught napping when Morata was afforded far too much space to head past David De Gea on 55 minutes. The Reds went close to equalising late on, mainly when substitute Marouane Fellaini saw a shot saved by his Belgian compatriot Thibaut Courtois, but unfortunately a draw could not be salvaged. As a result of the defeat, United are now eight points off league leaders Man City.
