“I’m trying to claim the goal but it’s been given away as an own goal already. It’s one of those things. You just have to try and shoot and get it on target, if it goes in. It’s more important to get the three points.
"We didn't play well, but the good thing was the intensity got higher in the second half when we were searching for the goal. After the goal, we couldn't kill the game. But in the last 15 minutes, I saw a hungry team with everybody playing for the clean sheet and the win. So I am happy with the attitude, but I have to praise a team and a manager that was playing in the Championship a few months ago."
"It was a battle because Brighton were very good from minute one to the last minute, with a good approach and defensively they were very well organised. Today they played with a line of five across the midfield. I keep saying it is very important to defend well and they did it very, very well. They were also quite dangerous on the counter attack."
“I think it was Ashley’s goal. He did good work. This victory is very important. It was a very tough game for us and to get the win today was important. We are just trying to keep on going the way we have been doing. We have two tough games coming up, we need to try and get the wins there too.”
"I always enjoy playing football and I am always happy to help the team out there. Today, playing at home, it was fun for the team and me so I feel really good. We are always trying to our defensive job, trying not to concede goals and we didn't concede any today. That is very, very good for us."
Ashley Young's deflected effort was enough for Manchester United to secure a vital and hard-fought 1-0 win over a dogged Brighton at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho opted to start with the same starting XI that impressively dispatched Newcastle last week. The only changes from that outing saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Scott McTominay recalled to the matchday squad. The Reds were frustrated for over an hour of the game, with the visitors stifling United's attempted attacking forrays, but Young's 25-yard effort hit Lewis Dunk and found its way into the far corner to secure a crucial three points. The result means United are now unbeaten in 38 home games in all competitions, since losing 2-1 to Manchester City in a Premier League match in September 2016. Next up at Old Trafford in the league? Pep Guardiola's leaders in M16!
United are now five points behind Manchester City, who do not play until tomorrow when they visit Huddersfield. The Reds have also extended their unbeaten run at Old Trafford to 39 games - just one short of the 40-game record set between December 1964 and April 1966.

Five minutes are up and the referee blows his whistle! United are there and seal consecutive wins in the Premier League for the first time since September! A deflected Ashley Young shot led to the only goal of the game and the Reds held on amid strong Brighton pressure in the closing stages.

We're into the final minute...

Brighton enjoying all the possession, but United have everyone except Ibrahimovic behind the ball. Dig in, lads!

We'll have five minutes of added time. Can United hold on? Fellaini has helped United to secure things in midfield, but Brighton are still looking dangerous from set pieces.

Brilliant stuff from United! A lovely one-two on the edge of the area between Ibrahimovic and Pogba gives the Swede space to shoot, but his first-time shot flashes wide.

At the other end, a Zlatan ball plays Mkhitaryan in. The forward jinks into the area and turns his man, but stumbles at the last moment and loses the ball. Can United find a second in the closing minutes and give themselves some breathing space?

Brighton go close again! Defender Shane Duffy just fails to head home an inswinging free-kick. The Irishman looked to be all over Chris Smalling, but the referee didn't whistle. Another narrow escape for the Reds.
