"I'm pleased with Marcus Rashford even without scoring. His work-rate was amazing. The only thing that was missing was a goal but I can only praise him for his desire and respect for the shirt."
"Second half, we restricted United to a few free-kicks, there wasn't a lot of momentum generated by United, that's credit to us. It's a positive point against a good team and we will build on that."
"We didn't have many balls in our transition to the last third – it was difficult to have that continuity. What we did so well in the last 15-20 minutes of the first half was we chose to connect with the attacking players by transporting the ball, leaving the ball in the right moment, the right choice of pass, playing simple to accelerate the game. In the second half, we went back again to that dynamic where we lost too many balls in midfield and, when the players don't understand that simplicity is genius, especially in some parts of the pitch, they keep going to complicated football. "It's difficult to have that continuity, but good spirit, good fight, good comeback from 2-0 to 2-2. Great examples of players fighting until the limit were Marcus Rashford and Phil Jones. Of course, many others were showing that respect for the shirt and the club. I think it was not the result we wanted but a performance apart from those interruptions we had in our attacking waves from midfield, apart of that, that had positive things."
"The second goal was a direct free-kick and the first goal was because we didn’t press the ball enough when our block is low, which is something that we do wrong. It doesn't matter the system we play. It has to do with the characteristics of the players and we don't have many - with all the respect, I hope people understand what I mean - we don't have many mad dogs. The ones that bite the ball all the time and press all the time, we don't have many people with that spirit, so nothing to do with the system. "I think Scott [McTominay] and [Nemanja] Matic did a very positive job for two midfield players and Phil Jones leads that group of three in a way where we were totally in control. I would say that the only problem that we had was that the two attacking players didn't have enough continuity, because in midfield we lost too many balls."
"[It was down to] choices when they [Southampton] have the ball. Biting, I would say, in relation to the first goal when the block is low, but what we needed to improve in this game I think was simplicity in midfield. Play one touch, play two touches, make it simple, make the ball arrive fast to the two attacking players and I think it was by losing so many balls in midfield that we broke that dynamic that normally leads to goals." * Speaking to BT Sport

The referee blows for full time. The Reds earn a point despite being two goals behind after 20 minutes. Romelu Lukaku scored his first goal for 12 games while Ander Herrera got his first goal since April to ensure the two sides went in at the break level. Unfortunately, the Reds were unable to find the winning goal in the second half and will hope for more when we face Arsenal on Wednesday night.
