What do Manchester United players do when they are injured or unavailable? Just like us fans, they sit down at home, watch the TV and cheer on the mighty Reds.
Edinson Cavani was a surprise absentee when the matchday squad was announced on Sunday after the Uruguay international picked up an injury at the Aon Training Complex on Saturday.
As a result, El Matador parked himself on the sofa and watched with delight as his team-mates defeated Pep Guardiola’s City in east Manchester, declaring a
“great triumph”on Instagram.
Unfortunately, the France international is still unavailable for action due to injury and he was therefore active on social media while watching from home.
“Good job boys!”he wrote in a post to his Instagram Story. “Great team win. For Manchester!”
The injured Donny van de Beek also enjoyed a “big win”
, while David De Gea celebrated the success on Twitter as he takes care of his partner and their newborn child in Spain.
Dean Henderson started in the Spaniard’s absence and the Academy graduate played a vital role in Shaw’s second-half goal, with a throw up the pitch that was reminiscent of Peter Schmeichel.
That piece of play from Henderson later earned praise from another United great, Edwin van der Sar, who was quick to congratulate the Englishman via Twitter.
