Amad enjoying life under Carrick

Amad is the latest member of the current Manchester United squad to appear on the Inside Carrington podcast.

The Ivorian follows Senne Lammens, Harry Maguire, Ayden Heaven, Diogo Dalot and Benjamin Sesko on to the show, for its 15th episode.

Our winger is naturally a bubbly and enthusiastic guest, as he touches on a range of subjects – from listening to the Quran for inspiration before games to sharing sartorial-themed forfeits with Heaven and Joshua Zirkzee.

He also discusses the impact Michael Carrick has made since being appointed as head coach in mid-January, with United winning four and drawing one of our Premier League games in that period.

Amad, who knows Carrick from his spell as coach under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and also played against the boss during his time at Middlesbrough, is loving life at United…

Amad: Why I enjoy playing under Carrickvideo

“I think having Michael Carrick as head coach in the team is very important because he knows the club,” Amad told hosts Helen Evans, Wes Brown and Liam Bradford.

“He's the main man who can tell us [about] the club we are playing for.

“Before the games he keeps telling us: you guys, you are playing for yourself, but you're playing also for the fans, and he’s telling us the fans are very important for us.

“We are also playing for the fans because we want to win and we want to give them something back.

“Having Carrick is very enjoyable and we enjoy the training. He’s a nice guy. He talks with everyone and I'm so lucky because I know him already – he was here when I arrived, when I was 18.

“I also played against him when he was in the Championship, so I know him since a long time and he's a nice guy.”

Jonny Evans, who played alongside Amad for two seasons, before the Northern Irishman retired last summer, is also a part of Carrick’s coaching staff.

Our no.16 believes it’s vital to be able tap into those, like Carrick and Evans, who have thorough experience and knowledge of United’s DNA and history.

“It’s very important as a player to have people around who know the club, who know exactly what this club means for them,” he added.

“They keep telling us what it really means, so that is very important.

“And when we go to the pitch we want to fight for them. So that's important to have people like this.”

Amad’s episode of Inside Carrington will be available to watch across our platforms from 19:00 GMT on Tuesday.
