Amad wins August Player of the Month award

Amad has been named Manchester United's Player of the Month for the very first time in his career.

The young Ivorian forward has made some big strides forward during the calendar year of 2024, and has started all three of United's games so far this season.

Amad opened the scoring in our last Premier League fixture, at Brighton & Hove Albion, and also impressed during the Community Shield against Manchester City and in our league opener against Fulham.

Nominated alongside new signing Noussair Mazraoui and 20-year-old prodigy Alejandro Garnacho in our final shortlist, Amad was the clear favourite among fans, drawing more than half of all votes.
Congratulations on your award, Amad!
The 22-year-old took 53 per cent, with Mazraoui and Garnacho tussling for the other spots on the podium.

The Moroccan full-back just managed to claim silver, winning 24 per cent of the overall support, while Garnacho came in third, with 22 per cent.

But Amad's blistering form throughout pre-season, and in the early weeks of the competitive campaign, have clearly made a big impression on fans.
Amad joined the club in January 2021, and made his debut against Real Sociedad the following month. In March, he netted his maiden goal for the Reds: an acrobatic header against AC Milan in the Europa League.

But he spent much of 2022 on loan, first with Rangers and then at Sunderland, where he really found his feet under the tutelage of Black Cats manager Tony Mowbray.

He was named Sunderland's Young Player of the Year for 2022/23, and returned to United for the following season, playing 11 times and scoring two goals after Christmas 2023.

The first of those goals came in the 121st minute of a ludicrously dramatic FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool, who could be Amad's next opponents, when the Merseysiders travel to Old Trafford on Sunday (kick-off 16:00 BST).

That legendary winner was a breakthrough moment for the 5ft 8in playmaker, and he ended the season demonstrating a greater confidence and conviction in his play.

Encouragingly, he's extended that momentum into 2024/25, and it's clear that United fans are excited about what's to come during the next phase of his career.

Congratulations on your award, Amad, and here's to many more.
