Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has revealed Tyler Adams is out of Friday night's Premier League clash with Manchester United.
The USA international is an influential figure for the Cherries but was not in the matchday squad for the 0-0 draw at Burnley last weekend, with the absence explained as a precaution.
Although there was some hope he would be fit in time for the 20:00 GMT kick-off at the Vitality Stadium, it has been decided not to risk the midfielder, with a pause in domestic football on the horizon.
The hosts are also set to remain without Lewis Cook but have no new problems coming out of the stalemate at Turf Moor.
“Tyler is not going to be available, as you suppose, because he hasn’t been in the squad for the US,”
Iraola said at his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
“Lewis Cook is still not ready. We have almost three weeks now without a game [after Friday], so we want to use that space for him to recover properly and be ready for the next one.
“We have no fresh injuries.”
Adams, a tigerish presence in the middle of the park, was injured in the very early stages of the reverse fixture, the entertaining 4-4 draw at Old Trafford in December.
The 27-year-old missed a big chunk of the campaign as a result but returned to the fold for the draws against West Ham United, Sunderland and Brentford, picking up yellow cards in the latter two fixtures.
Julio Soler and Justin Kluivert also remain sidelined for the south-coast side.
United are without Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu but Noussair Mazraoui could recover from illness, after missing training in midweek.
