What will Casemiro miss most about United?

As you know, Casemiro is leaving at the end of the season after four years at Old Trafford and he is in no doubt about what he will miss most about Manchester United.

The Brazilian is loved by our millions of supporters around the world and that unwavering affection was notably felt recently in M16, when fans in the Stretford End chanted ‘one more year’ during our 3-1 win over Aston Villa - a game in which the midfielder opened the scoring.

We couldn’t let our no.18 go without putting your questions to him and the second part of that special conversation is now being released across our official channels.

Tyler, from Malaysia, asked what he will miss most about United and Case’s response was heartfelt.

“The fans, 100 per cent the fans,” said the 34-year-old. “The affection they have for the club is what I will miss most. Of course, the club, but the fans are so connected to the club regardless of the result. Next game, they will be there supporting the players and the club, that is what I will miss most.”

Fans supplied brilliant questions on a variety of topics - from his favourite chant and funniest moment, to his biggest challenge and coming back to Old Trafford. Here’s how Case answered…

Leonard (Namibia): What is the most important thing a young defensive midfielder must learn to control a game?

“I think a centre-midfielder, especially a defensive one, for me is the most important position on the pitch. It is where everything happens and is what connects everything together, from the attack to the defence. For me, the focus has to be here and focus on every touch is very important. I think you must maintain focus in every play, you must be aware of all the players around you and the decisions other players make. So, for me, it is the most important and most difficult position in football.”

PJ: What is your favourite chant from the crowd? You’ve obviously got your own here at United…

“When they sing my name, that is the most uplifting. The one they sing before the game, Country Roads, that for me is so beautiful, one of the most beautiful songs. I think that is one that gets me really excited when I hear it.”

Aqil (Malaysia): What is the funniest moment you have had at United?

“I try to enjoy every moment. They are very funny players here, Cunha is one of them. Nous also, I try to joke with him a lot. He is also sitting next to me in the changing rooms, with lots of funny moments. The physios too, I have a great connection with them, they are funny.”

Mohamed (United States): What is the biggest adversity you have had to overcome in your career?

“In my career? There are always very difficult moments, when you lose, when you lose finals. These are the most challenging moments. I always try to look ahead rather than dwell on the past. I always try to keep looking forwards towards my objectives and stay focused on my path.”

Tawanda (United Kingdom): Will you be joining Bastian Schweinsteiger in watching our matches on TV, and maybe even coming back to Old Trafford to watch matches live?

“Of course. I am always going to watch and follow this club. It will always be in my heart and I will always be supporting. I always say, when the day comes for me to leave, there will be one more fan with the club.”

Triston (South Africa): What is your message to the United fans as you look back on your time at the club?

“Thank you. Thank you for everything.”
