Long list: United's top scorers of the modern era

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to finish the season as Manchester United’s top scorer across all competitions, but how does his tally compare with other campaigns in the modern era?

The Portuguese’s 22 goals is more than 11 previous bests that were recorded by Mark Hughes (21), Andrei Kanchelskis (15), Eric Cantona (19), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (19), Teddy Sheringham (21), Wayne Rooney (17, 19, 14), Dimitar Berbatov (21), Anthony Martial (17) and Paul Pogba (16).

With four matches still to play this season – against Chelsea, Brentford, Brighton and Crystal Palace - it is fair to assume Ronaldo will add to his tally and he therefore could beat a few more players.

Those could include his most recent season for United in 2008/09, when he scored 26 times in Sir Alex Ferguson’s all-conquering side.

Let us know your prediction for Cristiano’s final output below, before reading the long list in full…
