De Gea up to 13th on all-time appearances chart

David De Gea has overtaken another legendary name on Manchester United's all-time appearances table.

By starting against Brighton & Hove Albion in Tuesday night's Premier League match at Old Trafford, the in-form Spanish goalkeeper marked his 472nd appearance.

That moves De Gea up the all-time chart and into 13th place outright, one spot above fans' favourite Brian McClair.

Earlier this year, De Gea moved above the great Mark Hughes into 15th place on a table that includes bona fide club icons.

David then made his 471st United appearance at the weekend in the 1-1 Premier League draw against Southampton at the Theatre of Dreams.

His previous outing was significant because it propelled him above the incomparable George Best, who remains one of our most popular players ever.

There is a very good chance that our 31-year-old will move into 11th place by the end of this season, too, with Roy Keane (480) and Arthur Albiston (485) both within reach. With age on his side, who knows where De Gea will finish.
