Early team news for Tottenham v United

Manchester United are back in action on Saturday after a rare blank midweek, with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur on the agenda.

The Reds will be eager to put last Sunday's defeat to Liverpool behind us when taking on the north Londoners in front of a crowd for the first time since their move to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The teatime kick-off (17:30 BST) will provide a test of character as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men look to recapture the form that had us among the early pacesetters in the Premier League.

One player definitely ruled out is Paul Pogba, following the VAR intervention to his tackle on Naby Keita that saw the punishment upgraded from a yellow card to a red.

It means a three-match domestic suspension for the France international, who came on as a substitute against the Merseysiders, which commences this weekend. He will also sit out the matches with Manchester City and Watford.

In more positive news, Ole indicated before the Liverpool match that Pogba's fellow countrymen Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial could be pushing for returns after being injured whilst on international duty.

We should receive an update in the pre-match press conference, which is expected to take place on Friday.

The manager had named an unchanged side for our last outing, following the dramatic win over Atalanta that took us top of Champions League Group F.

This meant Cristiano Ronaldo was flanked by Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford, with Bruno Fernandes operating behind them. Rashford and Fernandes had shrugged off knocks sustained against Atalanta, with Fred also fit enough to start despite being forced off late in the 3-2 triumph.

TOTTENHAM TEAM NEWS

Our hosts are actually playing on Wednesday night, in the Carabao Cup at Burnley.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo welcomes Matt Doherty back into the squad after missing the last three games with a knock. “The only bad news that we have, at this moment, is Ryan Sessegnon,” said the Spurs boss. “He's not able to join us yet.”

Otherwise, the capital club appear to have a clean bill of health heading into their Turf Moor assignment, when Nuno may decide to shuffle his pack.
