Ten Hag confirms team news for Saturday

Erik ten Hag has provided an update on the Manchester United squad ahead of Saturday's Premier League game with Brentford.

The Reds return to action in the 15:00 BST kick-off, looking to start climbing the table after the goalless draw at Aston Villa last time out.

There is good news concerning Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco), Amad (Ivory Coast) and Alejandro Garnacho (Argentina), who have all trained after being forced to miss their respective countries' international fixtures.

However, Kobbie Mainoo has joined the list of absentees, which also includes Harry Maguire.

Mazraoui is available to feature this weekend, which is a real boost with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia still sidelined.

“Kobbie and Harry are out for a couple of weeks [but] Mazraoui is good news,” Erik said at his pre-match press conference. “He faced an illness but he returned on the training pitch and he's available for selection tomorrow.

”[Shaw and Malacia?] They are back but we can't force their return. We have to do it very carefully because we don't want a return and then they quickly drop out. So, we do it very carefully, but, of course, we hope to do it as soon as possible because this team needs a left full-back, that's for sure.“

Leny Yoro is continuing his rehabilitation from an operation, while Mason Mount is also recovering after being injured against Tottenham.

Manuel Ugarte has been away with Uruguay, playing World Cup qualifiers in South America, and he will need to be assessed before the squad is named for the weekend.

Bruno Fernandes is available but the skipper is suspended for Thursday's Europa League clash in Istanbul, against Fenerbahce.

BRENTFORD'S TEAM NEWS

Bees boss Thomas Frank has revealed striker Yoane Wissa could return ahead of schedule, following an ankle injury. The impressive forward is training ahead of the game and a decision on his availability will be made closer to kick-off.

There are no new concerns for the Londoners but Mathias Jensen, Igor Thiago and Rico Henry remain out.

“Everyone who was available for the last game is available for this one as well,” declared Frank. “Touch wood, everyone is fit and healthy.

“Both of them [Christian Norgaard and Mikkel Damsgaard] had minor issues. We could’ve pushed them through the international games but then problems might’ve come down the line.

”Mathi [Jensen] is training very well and training with the team. It’s just too soon to risk him but it’s looking very positive for Ipswich. Igor is a big character in a positive way. It’s still a bit early for him to be involved.

“Rico won’t travel. It’s too early to involve him for Manchester United so it will be more clever to get him involved over the next two weeks.”
