Faith is important to Amad and he’s been explaining the role it plays in his pre-match preparation.
The Ivorian is a practising Muslim, and he starts every day with a prayer at home.
He has previously played during Ramadan, the month of fasting which began on Tuesday evening, and attended an iftar meal for staff at Carrington a couple of years ago.
His religion is also with him in the dressing room, as he likes to take in passages of the Quran.
But rather than reading the holy book, he absorbs it in an audio format, rather than listening to pre-match music like his team-mates.
“Normally, I wake up so early and do some stretching at home,”
he told the Inside Carrington podcast.
“First, I pray and then, when I come here [to Carrington], I bring a little portion of food. If we play early games, at like 12, I take breakfast. If we play later, I take a little portion of lunch.
“Then, before the game, I like to listen to the Quran, because it gives me a lot of energy. It’s more about religion, so I like to listen more to the Quran instead of listening to music.
“It’s very calm and very relaxed, you know. You feel it.
“Sometimes I do music, but many, many, many times I listen to the Quran. It’s a thing I like to do.”
Having been a United player for half a decade now - this week marks five years since his debut - the winger is used to a certain level of fame.
The attention will have ramped up in his homeland too though, following his headline-grabbing performances at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Amad helped the Elephants to a quarter-final finish in his first tournament, scoring three times and claiming a trio of Man-of-the-Match prizes.
He doesn't mind the extra scrutiny though, and will happily stop for a photograph when asked.
“Honestly, you know me: I like to be around people. I like to walk normally,”
he added.
“I don't feel that pressure. People will come to bother me and give me things, so I like to be around people.
“I like to give energy, you know, it's not a problem for me. If people come to me and say, Amad, I need photo or something, I just want enjoy my day, so it's not a problem for me.”
