Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos.
Our South American signings
Six countries from South America have provided recruits for United's first-team squad to date - Argentina (six players), Brazil (six), Chile (one), Colombia (one), Ecuador (one) and Uruguay (two).
Of those countries, Brazil has been the biggest contributor to United's cause in terms of the total number of games played by its exports. The first six Reds to emerge from South America's largest and most populous nation have amassed 458 appearances for the club so far, from Kleberson's debut against Wolves in August 2003 to Andreas Pereira's most recent outing in February 2016, at home to FC Midtjylland.
The club's most recent acquisition, Alexis Sanchez, made history during the January 2018 transfer window when he became the first Chilean to sign for United.
