Who did it best: Berbatov, Greenwood or van Persie?

Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood displayed his unerring finishing ability on Wednesday night by breaking the deadlock with an acrobatic volley against Young Boys.

The teenage sensation moved into space inside the penalty area and met Luke Shaw’s perfect cross with an improvised strike that sent the ball fizzing into the bottom corner of Guillaume Faivre’s goal.

COMPARISONS WITH GREATS

Greenwood has often been compared to former United striker Robin van Persie during his fledgling career so far. That is both in terms of his finishing ability and even the way he moves around the pitch.

As soon as Mason found the back of the net on Wednesday, fans on social media began to compare his strike with an extremely similar effort by RvP against Bayer Leverkusen in 2013/14.

There was another United favourite who came to our minds when Mason wheeled away to celebrate his goal against Young Boys.

In the 2009/10 season, in October, Dimitar Berbatov executed a very similar finish when meeting a Darren Fletcher cross to score in front of the Stretford End.

If you can’t remember the Bulgarian’s effort, watch it in the video below…
