Betis star Rodriguez ready for second leg

Guido Rodriguez has talked up Real Betis's chances of turning their Europa League tie around, as Manchester United prepare to take on Los Verdiblancos in Seville this evening (Thursday).

Erik ten Hag's side are in a desirable position following our 4-1 success at Old Trafford last week, as we look to advance to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Rodriguez, who featured for a little over an hour at the Theatre of Dreams in the first leg, is confident the La Liga outfit can still progress instead, but acknowledges it will take a herculean effort to do so.

Real Betis announce second-leg squad

''Well, I think we’ve been working for a long time to create a better Betis,'' said the midfielder, at his team's pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

''We know tomorrow’s game is going to be difficult and tough. This is a great opponent, but we’re going to try anyway.

''We know we have the tools to compete, play smart and try to turn around this game.''

Close to 60,000 supporters are expected to cheer on Manuel Pellegrini's side at the Benito Villamarín Stadium, despite United leading by three goals in the tie.

Amplifying just how much of an influence the home fans can make, Rodriguez said: ''[The] people always support us. We have to be realistic and we have to know that this is going to be a tough game.

''We’re going to face an opponent that has different demands, because they’re almost a Champions League team, but we’re going to stand up as we always do.''

Rodriguez will be fully aware of the talent at Ten Hag's disposal in Seville, and will be particularly familiar with Lisandro Martinez, his fellow Argentinian.

The pair, plus another Betis player in Germán Pezzella, were all part of La Albiceleste's World Cup-winning squad back in December.

''I think the most important thing is to be smart,'' added the 28-year-old.

''We have to be together, like we’ve been all season. We know that we have a great opponent in front of us, and we know they have the lead.

''As always, we’re going to compete and leave everything out there to make things right and reach our goals.''
