Reds duo ‘excited’ for Wembley

On Sunday, Manchester United Women will make our maiden appearance in a major final at Wembley since reforming in 2018, taking on Chelsea in the climax of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.

Marc Skinner’s side will take on the Blues on Sunday 14 May, with kick-off pencilled in for 14:30 BST.

After a triumphant 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, defender Hannah Blundell believes the Reds have got good momentum going into the final.

Blundell: We've got great characters in this teamvideo

“Yeah definitely [confidence will be high],” our no.6 told MUTV after the victory over Spurs, as she started to look ahead towards the clash with Chelsea.

“We’ve got the momentum at the moment and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be positive going into that game.

“I think if we play like we know we can, then we should hopefully come away with a result.”

Fellow full-back Jayde Riviere, who made her Reds debut against Spurs, says she is ready to tick the famous stadium off her ‘bucket list’.

“I’m really excited,”
she said.

“I’ve never been to Wembley but I’ve only heard amazing things about it so it’s definitely something on my bucket list.

Riviere: It was exhilarating video

“I’ll be there cheering on the girls and play if I can!”

Last week it was announced that Wembley had sold out the Women’s FA Cup final for the first time ever, with a record domestic crowd for women's football expected.

Arsenal smashed the previous record just last week when they faced VfL Wolfsburg in the Champions League in front of over 60,000 spectators – but that number looks set to be eclipsed on Sunday.
