Bruno Fernandes has been rewarded for an excellent March with a nomination for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award.
Fernandes scooped the club’s equivalent prize last week, having scored six goals in our five games across all competitions.
Two of those strikes were netted in the top-flight, with Bruno curling home a superb free-kick from 25 yards out during the 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
He then notched in the final minute of the 3-0 win at Leicester City, a game in which he also registered assists for Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.
That means Bruno contributed to all four goals we scored in the division during March and he was also recognised as Man of the Match following both encounters.
Bruno is aiming to emulate Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie by claiming the accolade for a fifth time – his previous four wins all came during 2020.
Our no.8 faces competition from five other players, with former United team-mate Anthony Elanga the only man to also score more than once this month. Elanga is enjoying a stellar season with Nottingham Forest, as is Nikola Milenkovic, who is also in the running for the prize.
Wolves midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde has made the shortlist, alongside Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Jan Paul van Hecke, of Brighton & Hove Albion.
