Wolves preview: KO time, TV info, team news

Manchester United's final fixture of 2025 sees bottom club Wolves visit Old Trafford for a Premier League clash under the lights on Tuesday evening.

It’s only been three weeks since the Reds faced Rob Edwards’s winless side at Molineux, when we ran out comfortable 4-1 winners on a Monday night.

Ruben Amorim’s men will be hoping to build on our Boxing Day victory over Newcastle United and end what has been a challenging year on a high.

TEAM NEWS

The Reds are set to be without Bruno Fernandes once again, after our captain missed the Boxing Day win over Newcastle following his withdrawal at half-time against Aston Villa.

Fellow midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has also missed the last two games through injury, while Ruben Amorim said Mason Mount “felt something” which led to his withdrawal at the break against the Magpies.

It remains to be seen if either will be involved against Wolves, along with defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire who have also been absent lately. However, there will definitely be no Amad, Bryan Mbeumo or Noussair Mazraoui as they continue to represent their countries at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Meanwhile, Wolves will be without Brazilian midfielder Andre, who will serve a one-match ban after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Liverpool last time out.

Teenage forward Mateus Mane could keep his place after the 18-year-old impressed on his full debut at Anfield.

Rodrigo Gomes has recently undergone surgery to fix an issue on his groin, and is therefore expected to play no part in M16.

FORM GUIDE

It will be our sixth and final game of December, a month in which we have tasted defeat just once.

Our 4-1 success at Molineux - thanks to a double from Bruno Fernandes and goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount - was sandwiched between frustrating draws at home to West Ham and Bournemouth.

The solitary defeat in our last seven matches came just before Christmas, when we were unfortunate to lose 2-1 away at in-form Aston Villa.

The Reds were boosted by a much-needed second clean sheet of the season last time out against Newcastle, as our youthful side kept the Magpies at bay after Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu’s stunning volley made the breakthrough.

Wolves, meanwhile, have become the first top-flight side in history to record as few as two points after 18 league games. Despite a battling performance in their 2-1 loss at Liverpool on Saturday, it was an 11th successive defeat - their longest-ever losing streak in the Premier League.

They did, however, emerge victorious on their last visit to Old Trafford in April, when Pablo Sarabia’s 77th-minute free-kick proved to be the game’s only goal.

DID YOU KNOW?

United have won eight of our last 11 Premier League games against Wolves, while this is the third time we’ve faced an opponent twice in the same month in the Premier League - after Leeds United in February 2023 and Chelsea in December 1998.

The Reds will be hoping to keep consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League for the first time since September 2024 and avoid losing our final game of the calendar year for the third successive year, following defeats to Nottingham Forest away in 2023 and Newcastle at home in 2024.
