How to watch and follow Wolfsburg v United Women

Manchester United Women are back in UEFA Champions League action on Wednesday evening, as we take on Frauen-Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

The Reds are currently unbeaten in the league phase of the competition, boasting three wins from three against Valerenga, Atletico de Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain so far.

Marc Skinner's side suffered defeat in the Manchester derby over the weekend, but bouncing back will be top of the to-do list as we head to Germany.

LATEST TEAM NEWS

After having to manage most of his players' minutes against City at the weekend, Skinner was asked who could feature against Wolfsburg in his post-match press conference.

“Phallon [Tullis-Joyce] took a knock to the face [against Aston Villa], so we're just assessing. She wasn't ready for today,” Marc began.

“We're going through some specialists at the minute. She should be fine. It's just obviously trying to make sure we don't get another knock in that area.

”She could be potentially back for Wolfsburg but we're just taking it day by day right now. But it shouldn't be too long [before she's back], to be honest.“

”I think that was just the way Jayde [Riviere] was walking off the pitch, she was just tired,“ he added. ”She is tired as she is a high explosive player, so she tires.“

”Ella got a scrape down her achilles, she was fine as I just needed to change that game. Simi [Awujo] is a clash of heads and she has a golf ball there. There is no concussion there.

“They are all okay and hopefully they will be okay going into the game on Wednesday.”

HOW ARE WOLFSBURG FARING?

Providing arguably our toughest test yet, Wolfsburg are no novices when it comes to Champions League football, having won the competition twice in 2013 and 2014.

They have also finished runners-up in the competition four times, with their latest silver-medal position coming back in 2023, when they were beaten by Barcelona.

Having won two of their opening three games this term, their only defeat came last time out against Lyon, via a 3-1 defeat to the 2024 winners.

Domestically, they are second behind only Bayern Munich in the German top-flight, on 22 points, having lost just twice.

Experienced forward Alexandra Popp is one to watch, with the 34-year-old veteran having netted six goals in her last 10 appearances.
