Jose Mourinho has confirmed he will make further changes for Manchester United’s final Premier League game of the season against Watford and has already confirmed the identity of four starters for Sunday’s match.
Meanwhile, the forward line is set to feature Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, who were both on the bench against the Hammers after starting last week’s match at Brighton.
Mourinho had already confirmed prior to the stalemate at the London Stadium that captain Michael Carrick will start Sunday’s league finale, for what will be the 36-year-old midfielder’s final appearance at Old Trafford before hanging up his boots at the end of the season to take up a coaching role among Jose’s staff.
“Romero plays on Sunday because he deserves that and some other players are going to play because we as a team achieve the second position and we as a team are going to play the FA Cup final,”
the boss told reporters after Thursday’s game.
“It is normal that Michael Carrick is captain at Old Trafford for the last game of his career. David De Gea will be rested, so it gives a chance for Sergio Romero to play. I can make changes.
“Marcus and Anthony played against Brighton. Today it was for Alexis and [Jesse] Lingard to play and Sunday is again for Martial and Rashford.”
