Jose hopes Fellaini will sign a new United contract

Jose Mourinho hopes Marouane Fellaini and the club can reach an agreement over a new contract for the Manchester United midfielder.

During a press confernce at the Aon Training Complex on Friday morning, the boss was asked for the latest update on the future of the 30-year-old whose current deal is set to expire next summer.

Mourinho has had nothing but praise for Fellaini since the pair began working together in the summer of 2016, and the manager very much hopes an agreement can be reached.
Mourinho has gone on record about his desire for Fellaini to sign a new United contract
“It's a discussion between the player and the board,”
Jose told reporters on Friday. “I'm not involved in contracts or in deals.

”I respect both - the player because the player has the right to decide his future. He finishes his contract, he has the right to decide his future, and I respect the board because the decisions and the discussions are under their control.

“So I just wait, wishing that they will have an understanding but it's out of my control.”
Meanwhile, Mourinho has exclusively revealed to MUTV that Eric Bailly and Phil Jones will miss Saturday's Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion.
“They are out,”
he said. “But we are okay because we have [Chris] Smalling, [Marcos] Rojo and [Victor] Lindelof.”

Jose also confirmed Paul Pogba will start but can only play for up to 70 minutes, and that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will feature for a third successive match since returning from injury.
