Jose: There isn't one player I want to sell this summer

Jose Mourinho has expressed his desire to keep hold of everyone in his Manchester United squad this summer, stating that he doesn’t want any player to leave.

Club captain Michael Carrick has already confirmed that he will retire at the end of the current campaign and take up a position on Mourinho’s coaching staff next term.

But, aside from Carrick, and contrary to press speculation, the boss reiterated he has no wish for anyone else to depart Old Trafford in the off-season and there isn’t a single player that he wants to sell.

'I'm ready for my future with Jose'

Having already stressed that Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind are part of his plans for 2018/19, when asked about their futures, Mourinho later told reporters at his pre-Brighton press conference: “I feel that I don't have to open the door of what is internal business.

“What I can say is the same I said in relation to Darmian and Daley Blind – I want to keep them. The only player that is leaving, for sure, is Michael [Carrick], who we have to replace with another player.

"Michael Carrick is the only player who is leaving for sure. There is not one other player I want to sell."

“There is not another one that in my reports to the board and to the owners I said I want to sell – not one. There is not one player that I want to sell, but it's the same story that I told in relation to Matteo and Daley.

“When a player wants to leave, if he's out of contract, he can [leave]. When he has a contract, he cannot [leave] and we have to analyse what they bring to us. But, until this moment, no players have spoken with us about wanting to leave. No players have spoke with us about it and, from that, I don't think I have to answer to you in a more objective way.”
